CityCenterDC is a mixed-use, transit and pedestrian-oriented neighborhood with great outdoor spaces that provides an engaging place for people to gather and connect. Encompassing 10-acres in the heart of the District, CityCenterDC will be a 2.5 million square foot vibrant neighborhood development enlivened with a mix of condominiums, apartments, offices, public spaces, hotel, restaurants and shops.
As of 2011, this development is one of the largest downtown projects in the United States, and the largest urban development on the East Coast.
L. S. Caldwell & Associates, Inc. has been retained to implement mandated contracting and employment compliance requirements and to assist Project subcontractors in complying with DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) The Department of Small and Local Business Devlopment (DSLBD).
Specific strategies were established and implemented to include:
- Tracking and monitoring of all contracting and employment activity for the Developer and General Contractor.
- Acting as the liaison between the Developer and District Agencies with jurisdiction over the project.
- Conducting Compliance workshops to introduce reporting requirements and procedures as determined by the District.
- Notifying contractors, particularly Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) firms of available subcontracting opportunities.
